We are a community group that welcomes local residents, university students and staff. Our aim is to build a stronger, safer and more stable community, while cutting back on carbon emissions due to waste by: lending tools, educating community members on tool use and maintenance & empowering neighbours to maintain and improve their properties
The Kernel aims to provide groups across St Andrews with a space where they can undertake practical projects that contribute to reducing carbon emissions in the face of climate change. This could be waste reduction, upcycling, food growing, and energy advice. It provides a place for group members to interact, share knowledge, skills and resources.
The Kernel is at the heart of Community Share for Climate Care project, supported jointly by Transition University of St Andrews, St Andrews Botanic Garden and St Andrews Environmental Network, funded by Climate Challenge Fund.
