Northamptonshire County Toy Library is a service based in Northampton run by a voluntary group made up of parents for other parents and childcare providers.
The facility provides a huge range of toys and equipment such as prams and sitting aids for babies, along with specialist toys for children with disabilities, of which many families or carers would not be able to buy.
In May 2012, the voluntary group took on the running of the service which formerly belonged to Northamptonshire County Council, saving it from closure following the withdrawal of its funding.
It is now self-funded and has no regular streams of income except from the membership and hire charges. This toy library now has charity status.
