“Ally Pally” in the heart of North London is home to our largest farmers’ market attracting more than 40 farmers, baristas, bakers and craftspeople and up to 3,000 visitors every Sunday.
Nestled in a leafy lane, in Alexandra Palace Park, the market has been running for a decade helping to put the community in touch with local producers – some of whom hail from just five miles away or nearer – and, of course, each other. Produce available every week includes fruit and vegetables from Kent, pressed fruit juices, local rare breed pork and sausages, fresh fish, smoked meats and fish, organic bread and handmade pies, cakes and biscuits. The market also offers delicious relishes and sauces, honey and jams, freshly marinated olives and ready to eat Moroccan, Indian and Mediterranean style dishes made with locally sourced ingredients.
Plus, we have the only street food stall in London offering dishes from Guadeloupe –a French-Caribbean cuisine that combines the finesse of French cooking with exotic spices and recipes from Africa and East India, as described in Hungry Becs’ Food Blog – “lovely puffy bread with the slow cooked chicken, creamy avocado and spicy sauce” – with FairTrade tea and coffee to wash it all down.
It is no surprise that with wonderful food and a host of artists and craftsmen selling ceramics, prints, books and jewellery that Time Out and Slow Food London have recognised our market as one of the best in London.
And with Ally Pally’s nearby amenities including an ice rink, boating lake, pitch-and-putt and a terrace bar with one of the best panoramic views of the capital, why not come and make a day of it!
